Job Details/Qualifications
The Kapuskasing Golf Club is currently accepting applications for the position of Course Crew Assistant. This position offers excellent opportunities for growth and advancement, with the potential to move into the Course Crew Lead in 2026. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for turf management. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Course Crew Lead and other team members to ensure the golf course is presented in excellent condition for play, while contributing to the long-term health and aesthetics of the course.
Duties / Responsibilities
• Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of all golf course maintenance activities
• Operation of turf equipment and mowing of greens, tees, fairways and rough
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and mower reels
• Perform routine inspections of the golf course to identify areas needing attention and improvement
• Configure and troubleshoot irrigation system and fix leaks
• Assist with course setup and preparation for daily play, tournaments, and special events
• Provide excellent customer service by maintaining positive relationships with course members and guests
• Other duties as requested by the course crew lead
Requirements
• Energetic, self-motivated and available to work early mornings, weekends and holidays between May 1 to October 15
• Previous experience in golf course maintenance, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Prior experience operating turf/landscaping equipment
• Ability to manage and lead a diverse team in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Consistent attention to detail and high professional standards
• Strong team player, leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to prioritize work
• Must be punctual for early morning start times
• Valid class “G” drivers license
Considered an Asset
• Prior golf course maintenance experience
• Graduate or enrolled in a recognized turf grass management program
• Knowledge of the game of golf, course etiquette and general practices
• Knowledgeable of health and safety policies and practices
• Pesticide exterminator license, technician training and/or chainsaw certification
• Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Certified
Remuneration
We offer a competitive salary and golf playing privileges. Anticipated start date: Late April until mid-October (Dependent on Weather)
