University Golf Club is currently looking for an experienced Irrigation Technician to add to our team, working closely under the direction of the Head of Agronomy and Assistant Superintendent. As the Irrigation Technician, this role assists in overseeing all irrigation operations, including repairs, scheduling, and water management across the golf course. The successful candidate will also have the great opportunity for growth as he/she will be working with a mentor that has been with UGC for 25+ years and is ready to pass on the torch to their successor.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor and adjust the irrigation systems for optimal coverage
• Perform ongoing repairs to the existing PVC system as needed
• Assist with irrigation planning and monitor overall water use in line with the club’s water use plan
• Stay current with industry trends through education, seminars, and networking events
• Support other course maintenance operations, and always represent the department professionally
Qualifications & Skills:
• A degree or 2-year diploma from a recognized institution in turfgrass management or related filed
• Previous experience with irrigation systems is an asset
• Valid BC Driver’s license or equivalent
Working Hours:
• Full-time, year-round position
• On-site; 5-day working week with 2 scheduled days off (37.5 hours/week)
Compensation & Benefits:
• Competitive hourly wage; Range between $27-29/hour
