Summary:
As a Greenskeeper your role will be to assist with the daily maintenance of Kokanee Springs Golf Course and surrounding areas so that it is always presented at the highest possible standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• To assist with the maintenance of all aspects of the Golf Course related grounds including the Clubhouse and Golf Shop areas. This
will include but not be limited to spring cleanup (gravel removal, sod repair), collection and disposal of litter, clean-up of fallen trees,
tree limbs and other tree-related debris, precision mowing (with both “ride-on” and push mowers), trimming, precision sand grooming,
raking and shoveling as required, fall shut down and Golf Course winterization.
• To assist with the maintenance of Golf Course area-related patios, sidewalks, other walkways and cart paths. This includes but is not
limited to weed control, cleanup of gravel and grass clippings, removal of encroaching shrub and tree branches, grading and litter
removal.
• To assist with the maintenance of Golf Course drainage channels and dry streams including trimming, removal of excess silt and soil
build-up, and ensure that pop-up drains and catch basins are clear and functioning.
• To assist with the maintenance of Golf Course waterways including trimming and removal of debris that may impede flow.
• To assist with the maintenance of Golf course grounds areas with placed rocks, gravel or wood mulch including weed control,
trimming and ensuring an overall tidy appearance.
• Safe operation and care of all Golf Course grounds maintenance equipment including transport equipment, hauling equipment,
tractors, mowers, bunker groomers, golf carts, trimmers, blowers and hand tools.
• To perform multiple other tasks related to all aspects of the maintenance of the Golf Course grounds emphasizing safe working
procedures.
• To assist with Golf Course projects and renovations as required.
• To help maintain the function and cleanliness of the Kokanee Springs Golf Course equipment maintenance facility and the Atco
staff/office building including the general cleaning of these facilities.
• To perform other non-turf related duties as required.
Successful Candidates will possess the following:
• Related experience in high-end golf course maintenance and operation is a plus.
• Familiarity with resort operations is a plus.
• Being a golfer is a plus.
• This position is an outdoor job. Greenskeepers must be able to work outdoors in many different types of weather conditions, be able
to focus on the task at hand for 8-hour days and be physically capable of carrying out all golf course maintenance-related tasks such
as repeatedly lifting 25kg objects as well as having the ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, use landscaping tools or operate turf
maintenance equipment for up to 8-hour shifts.
• Ability to start work as early as 4:30 am daily and work at least one weekend day.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Analytical skills; accurate; highly detail oriented.
• Organizational and time management skills.
• Strong oral communication skills.
• Valid Driver’s license (BC class 5 or equivalent) and transportation to work are required.
• Steel-toe boots are required.
• A variety of work clothing is recommended, i.e. work gloves, and rain gear.
