Summary:
As the golf course Irrigation Technician at Kokanee Springs Resort, your primary role will be operating, maintaining and making improvements to the golf course irrigation system. You will also be expected to perform other general golf course maintenance tasks as part of the ground’s maintenance team when necessary. This role will be vital in helping to ensure that the golf course is always presented at the highest possible standards.

Essential Functions:
• Responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the golf course irrigation system while emphasizing safe working practices and
procedures.
• Responsible for preventative maintenance on all components of the golf course irrigation system including pumps, controllers,
sprinklers, and valves.
• Responsible for monitoring the performance of the golf course irrigation system, troubleshooting problems and making any
necessary repairs to all components of the irrigation system including repairs on pipe, pressure-reducing valves, zone operation
valves, irrigation heads, controllers and wiring.
• Responsible for maintaining complete and accurate records of all maintenance and repairs completed on the golf course irrigation
system.
• Responsible for daily monitoring of turf moisture levels and adjusting irrigation schedules to maintain turf health and playability.
• Reporting any observed irregularities in the irrigation system and turf quality to the Superintendent.
• Responsible for the installation of upgraded irrigation heads throughout the golf course.
• Assist in other irrigation system upgrades, renovations, and seasonal preparations, such as winterization and spring start-up
• Responsible for training and supervising staff assigned to assist with repairs on the irrigation system while advocating workplace
safety.
• Perform multiple other ongoing turf maintenance duties as required as a part of the golf course grounds maintenance team.
• To help maintain the function and cleanliness of the Kokanee Springs Golf Course equipment, equipment maintenance facility and
the Atco staff/office building.

Successful Candidates will possess the following:
• Previous experience in a similar role with knowledge in the operation and maintenance of a golf course irrigation system including
making repairs on pipe sizes up to 8”, monitoring the performance of and making repairs or adjustments on Pressure Reducing
valves and Zone Operation valves of multiple sizes, monitoring and performing maintenance on the irrigation pump station,
monitoring the function of irrigation heads and making repairs as needed along with troubleshooting any other potential operational
problems with the irrigation system.
• The Irrigation Technician must be comfortable with morning start times as early as 3:00 am, be able to work outdoors in many
different types of weather conditions, be able to focus on the task at hand for 8-hour days and be physically capable of carrying out
all golf course maintenance-related tasks including but not limited to digging and shovelling required to expose components of the
irrigation system for repairs, repeatedly lifting 25kg objects as well as having the ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend or operate
landscaping tools or turf maintenance equipment for up to 8-hour shifts.
• Experience with and proficiency in operating a variety of turf maintenance and excavating equipment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Organizational, record-keeping and time-management skills.
• Strong oral communication skills.
• Ability to work well with others to promote a cohesive team environment.
• Experience working with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license (BC class 5 or equivalent) and have transportation to work.
• Steel-toe boots are required.
• A variety of work clothing is recommended, i.e., work gloves, rain gear and waterproof footwear.

Wage: $23.50 - $26.50 per hour
