We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead our dedicated team and uphold our commitment to excellence in all aspects of our operations.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager (GM) will serve as the Chief Operating Officer of the Club. The GM is responsible for the effective leadership and management of all day-to-day operations,including golf operations, turf management, oversees food and beverage contractor, manages clubhouse facilities, member services, and administration. The ideal candidate will be a visible and engaging leader, dedicated to enhancing the member experience, ensuring the Club's financial health, and implementing its long-term strategic vision.
Key Responsibilities
● Leadership & Governance: Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and execute the Club's strategic plan, policies, and initiatives. Foster a culture of excellence, service, and professionalism among all staff.
● Financial Management: Oversee the Club's financial performance. Lead the development of annual operating and capital budgets, manage financial reporting, and ensure the implementation of effective financial controls to achieve the Club's fiscal goals.
● Operations Management: Direct and oversee all department heads, including the Head Golf Professional, Course Superintendent, and Food & Beverage Contractor. Ensure all club facilities are maintained to the highest standards of quality, safety, and cleanliness.
● Booking & sales system: Proficiency with golf management software (e.g., Tee-On), point-of-sale systems (e.g., Moneris), and financial reporting is essential.
● Marketing & Sales: Develop and execute marketing and sales initiatives to attract new members, retain existing ones, and promote events and services.
● Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations, safety standards, and club policies.
● Member Relations & Experience: Act as the face of the Club, maintaining a visible presence with members and guests. Champion initiatives that drive member engagement, satisfaction, and retention. Proactively address and resolve member inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
● Staff Development: Lead a team of dedicated professionals. Responsible for the hiring, training, mentorship, and performance management of all club staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
● Marketing & Growth: In conjunction with the Board, develop and implement strategies for membership growth, event sales, and promoting the Club's brand and value proposition within the community.
Qualifications and Experience
● A minimum of 5 years of management experience in a golf club, country club, or high-end hospitality environment.
● A post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field is preferred.
● Demonstrated success in financial management, with strong proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and P&L oversight.
● Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire staff and build strong relationships with members and the Board.
● A deep understanding of and passion for the game of golf and golf club culture.
● Proven ability to deliver a first-class member and guest experience.
● Strong business acumen and strategic planning capabilities.
