Silver Lakes Golf & Country Club is a premier 18-hole, par-72 championship course located just north of Toronto in East Gwillimbury. Designed to USGA specifications, Silver Lakes offers the feel of a private club with public access, featuring top-tier practice facilities, including a unique Aqua Range, and a strong reputation for course conditions and guest service. It's a destination for golfers of all skill levels, combining natural beauty with exceptional golf experiences. Beyond golf, Silver Lakes is also a sought-after venue for private events, including banquets, corporate functions, and weddings. With elegant indoor spaces and picturesque outdoor settings, it provides the perfect backdrop for both intimate gatherings and large celebrations.
Reporting to the ownership representative, the General Manager is responsible for the strategic planning and management of all Club operations and facilities, including the golf course, pro shop, food and beverage (F&B), maintenance and the management of employees.
The General Manager oversees the Superintendent, Director of Golf Operations, Executive/Head Chef, Golf Shop Manager, and Events Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the golf course, including maintenance, golf operations, hospitality services, and events
- Supervise department heads (F&B, golf operations, grounds keeping, banquet and events) to ensure coordinated operations
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures to maintain service excellence
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations
Financial Management
- Prepare, manage and monitor annual budgets for all departments
- Track and analyze revenue streams (fees, memberships, pro shop sales, F&B) to identify opportunities for growth
- Approve purchases, control costs, and ensure efficient allocation of resources
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reports for ownership
Staff Management
- Recruit, train, mentor and evaluate staff across all departments
- Conduct regular staff meetings and foster a positive, collaborative work environment
- Ensure proper scheduling and staffing levels for peak and non-peak seasons
Marketing and Business Development
- Work with marketing team to promote the facility through advertising, events, and community outreach
- Develop partnerships with local businesses and community organizations
- Oversee tournaments scheduling, corporate outings, and special events to drive revenue
Facility and Course Maintenance
- Maintain course quality and playability
- Oversee clubhouse maintenance, renovations, other projects
- Ensure facilities are clean, safe, and appealing to members and guests
DESIRED PROFILE
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field
- Minimum of 5+ years as a general manager or in a management position at a golf club
- Excellent communications, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in golf management software
- Financial, budgetary and accounting management skills
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage personnel and meet financial targets with proven experience managing financial results
- Ability to build and maintain member relationships
