Comox Golf Club, a busy historic 9-hole golf course in downtown Comox, is seeking an experienced and hands-on Golf Services Director (GSD) to lead clubhouse operations, enhance the member and guest experience, and support the Club’s long-term sustainability. The position is open.
This senior operational role oversees golf services, the Pro Shop, food & beverage coordination, events, staff leadership, technology systems, and revenue development in a community-based, not-for-profit golf environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Golf Services Director is responsible for the effective day-to-day operation of all customer-facing services at the Club. The successful candidate will balance service excellence, people leadership, operational discipline, and business development while working collaboratively with the Greens Superintendent and Club staff.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead day-to-day clubhouse and golf services operations, including the Pro Shop, food & beverage services, events, and customer service functions
• Deliver a consistent, high-quality member and guest experience across all services
• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise staff; establish clear expectations and accountability
• Strengthen existing revenue streams and develop new revenue opportunities through programming, events, promotions, sponsorships, and partnerships
• Oversee clubhouse building operations, maintenance coordination, and asset oversight
• Ensure disciplined financial and POS practices, cost control, and accurate reporting
• Leverage technology as a core operational tool, including Tee-On, Golf Genius, and website platforms
• Provide leadership in the development of a junior golf program to bring to CGC the youth of the Comox Valley
• Work closely with the Greens Superintendent to align course conditions, maintenance scheduling, and communications with play and events
• Implement Board-approved strategies and policies and provide clear operational reporting to the Board
Qualifications & Experience
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in golf, hospitality, recreation, or multi-department service operations
• Proven leadership experience managing staff teams and complex daily operations
• Demonstrated ability to grow revenue through events, programming, service improvements, or marketing initiatives
• Strong administrative and business management skills, including budgeting and operational planning
• Comfort using technology systems such as POS, booking, tournament, and reporting platforms
• Experience working with a volunteer Board and/or not-for-profit organization is an asset
• Post-secondary education in business, hospitality, or recreation management preferred
• PGA of Canada Professional certification is considered an asset
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
