Job Summary
Carleton Golf & Yacht Club is seeking an innovative, energetic, service-driven Head Golf Professional with a strong sense of professionalism. The successful candidate will lead all aspects of golf operations while enhancing the overall member experience. Reporting to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, this role is responsible for delivering exceptional service to members and their guests, fostering strong relationships within the membership, and growing club membership. The Head Professional will maintain a highly visible, hands-on leadership presence throughout daily golf operations and will be involved in shaping the future of the club through strategic planning, developing new golf initiatives, and working within a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the golf operations department, including golf instruction, retail operations, tournaments, and events.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development for a high-performing team of Golf Professionals, Outside Services, Starters, and Golf Shop staff.
  • Deliver a consistently high-quality, member-focused golf experience and maintain a visible, approachable presence throughout daily operations.
  • Oversee all daily golf operations including tee sheet management, staffing, pace of play, and operational planning to ensure smooth daily flow.
  • Plan, organize, and execute club tournaments, events, and instructional programming.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with members through approachability, regular communication, and service leadership.
  • Contribute to the ongoing growth of membership through innovative marketing approaches.
  • Manage golf shop operations, including merchandising standards, inventory control, and retail performance.
  • Collaborate with the Golf Course Superintendent and Club leadership to coordinate daily operations and service enhancements.
  • Provide input on long-term planning, including capital improvements and facility upgrades.
  • Represent Carleton Golf & Yacht Club professionally at club functions and external events.

Qualifications

  • PGA of Canada Class "A" Professional in good standing.
  • Completion of a relevant diploma or post-secondary degree in golf management (PGM), recreation, business, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a private club or a service-driven golf environment.
  • Strong background in golf operations, member service, retail management, tournaments, and instructional programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • High standards for professionalism, service consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable being visible, approachable, and actively engaged with the membership.
  • Experience with Golf Genius, Jonas POS, and GG Golf systems is an asset but not required.

Compensation
$80,000 – $95,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications
